Abstract
At the University of Borås, nursing education students receive a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Caring Science and a specialisation in Nursing. In the nursing programme, the integration of men’s violence against women and violence in close relationships has taken place through amalgamation with the main subject, caring science. This integration has contributed to a greater understanding of the situations of abused women. Concepts such as life world, life force, life projects and life courage contribute to an understanding of what life can look like for the abused woman. Through this education, the students develop their reflective ability, which contributes to developing the ability to listen to the woman or the person exposed to violence. Caring science theory also contributes to an understanding of men’s violence against women and violence in close relationships that develops progressively during the education programme.
