Abstract

Region Jönköping County has a clear strategy to strengthen the existential health dimension. Initially, it was an investigation and a report on chaplaincy services that declared the responsibility of health care for spiritual issues. Since then, the work has developed through purposeful efforts, where training of staff and discussion groups are concrete examples. The research and method development that Cecilia Melder and Lena Bergquist have contributed has formed the theoretical basis and a valuable source of inspiration. The region has also had a clear strategic thinking about how the work should be organized and managed. Primarily, various initiatives are coordinated via a working group, while overall management and control takes place in a steering group. The article describes how the work has developed over a ten-year period.
