Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a general model for Interactive Music Therapy, adjustable to different groups of clients/patients, with the goal to contribute to better health and quality of life in a public health perspective. Music therapy is defined within a framework of systems theory, linked to theories of intrapsychological and interpersonal processes. Different approaches to music therapy are presented with theoretical foundation, described from a clinical perspective and linked to theories of bounding, play therapy and concepts such as arousal, vitality and emotions. The dimensions which form the model consist of: Values, User perspective, Implementation, Target groups, Interaction, Music as communication, Time and closeness, Interventions with music-painting-text-movement, Symbolization processes, Selection of music therapy methods, Competence and Evaluation.
